- Abstract
Through a series of tests, the influence of double-layer paving and the traditional single layer paving on asphalt mixtures bending fatigue performance was investigated. Test result shows that the technique of double-layer paving can pave and roll the lower layer and top layer asphalt mixtures at the same time. The technique of double-layer paving can improve the asphalt bonding between the two layers and form an integrated road surface, the dividing line between the layers becomes fuzzy. And the technique of double-layer paving reduces the temperature lowering effectively, gives a good compaction of asphalt layers, and makes the forming of a whole complex pavement structure layer. It is these characteristics that make the technique of double-layer paving improve the anti-fatigue performance of asphalt mixtures. In the case of double layer paver, the small beam flexural strength, flexural tensile strain, stiffness modulus can be increased by 28. 3 %, 25.4% and 2.2% respectively compared with that for the traditional single paving.
