The article focuses on breach of contract damages under U.S. law. The author examines two U.S. contract cases: Chicago Coliseum Club v. Dempsey and Hoffman v. Red Owl Stores, Inc. It is noted that both deal with damages stemming from breaches of contracts and promissory estoppel. It is noted that the court rejected speculative earnings damages in the Dempsey case.
