- Abstract
In the first half of the 18th century, the brothers Bertolini and Davide Miotti were among the glass decorators working on Murano. We are not able to attribute any particular objects to them because they did not sign their works, but we know a considerable amount about Daniele Miotti because he often added his factory's mark to his pieces, some of which are ornamented with flowers and birds. During that same period, another Muranese glassworker, Zuane Fontanella, operated a factory that produced enameled glass. Recently, an enameled bottle of colorless glass bearing the signature "Zuane Fontanella fa Muran" was discovered. It sheds light on some objects that have usually been assigned to the Brussa family. Osvaldo Brussa and his son, Angelo, made enameled glass between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. They did not sign their pieces, but on the basis of a painting in the collection of the Glass Museum of Murano, we can attribute to them some transparent white glasses of modest quality that are decorated with flowers and birds.
