- Abstract
The article explores the creation and use of witch bottles for healing purposes with regard to the history of witchcraft in early modern England. Topics discussed include the common ingredients of this cure for bewitchment which tend to range from body fluids to human hair, the function of witch bottles according to Keith Thomas 1971 book "Religion and the Decline of Magic," and the prophylactic features of witch bottles against potential witch attacks.
