- Abstract
The author explores a study which investigates whether a history of incarceration was associated with uncontrolled blood pressure among HIV-positive and -negative patients with hypertension receiving care within the VA system. Topics discussed include the mortality rate among former prisoners 2 weeks following release, the definition of incarceration based on the study, and the strengths and weaknesses of the study.
