- Abstract
The article presents research which examines the usefulness of short-term preservation and assay methods for the molecular detection of Wolbachia in the Mediterranean flour moth Ephestia Kuehniella. Researchers found that acetone and 95% EtOH are adequate short-term specimen preservation methods for detecting endosymbiotic bacterial DNA within an insect host. They also observed a reduction in Wolbachia wspA copy number and HF PCR band intensity of the symbiont DNA isolated from specimens stored in 95% EtOH at room temperature.
