- Title
Nanoscale friction: Sliding charges.
- Authors
Szoszkiewicz, Robert; Riedo, Elisa
- Abstract
The article discusses a study related to ultrahigh dissipation of energy while sliding surfaces of nanotubes made of flat boron nitride, by researcher A. Niguès and co-workers. It mentions about the friction that exists between carbon layers in multiwalled carbon nanotubes. It states that multiwalled boron nitride nanotubes exhibit ultrahigh interlayer friction due to ionic character as compared to ultralow friction that prevails between carbon layers in multiwalled carbon nanotubes.
