- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of children and adolescents. During the pandemic, an increase in mental health disorders was observed in this population, which may be related to increased food intake and decreased physical activity. Obesity, which is a risk factor for COVID-19, may also increase due to the mental disorders experienced during confinement. In addition, the increase in sedentary behavior and screen time also contributed to these mental health problems. The importance of addressing obesity and sedentary behavior from a psychonutritional perspective is highlighted, involving the community at large and not just schools and families.
