- Abstract
This essay highlights the ills of the practice of gerrymandering in U.S. politics, which manipulates electoral districts to partisan advantage, and how independent redistricting commissions could provide solutions to the problem. Topics covered include the threats of gerrymandering to democracy, the need to take the power to redistrict from state legislatures and give it to the voters, and how gerrymandering represent political exceptionalism and corruption.
