- Abstract
The article discusses the profitability of aged care companies in Australia and their efforts to reduce tax despite relying on government funding. Topics discussed include media expose on sub-standard care in nursing homes and how older people were taken advantage by retirement village operators and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) study which showed the increasing profits, government subsidies, market share, resident fees and political influence of for-profit providers.
