- Authors
Mainwaring, L.
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of international transport cost to the direction of trade in the U.S. It found that transport cost cause certain products to back out from international trade because the costs affect the overall pattern of trade. Some argued that transport cost have allocative similar effects to tariffs and other artificial impediments. It also shows that the existence of non-traded goods pose some problems in trade theory and most of it affects the theoretical interest in transport costs. Also discussed are the details of how transport costs affects international trade.
