- Abstract
The article discusses the development of different textiles that can control temperature. An overview of cooling technologies in clothing is given. These developments include man-made fibers with fiber channels to move sweat to the fabric's surface, microcapsules that create a cooling sensation when released on the skin, and dyes such as ColdBlack from Schoeller which reflect sunlight. An overview is also given of warming technologies in clothing. These developments include insulation, electrical-warming systems such as WarmX and FlexiWarm, and ceramic-based coatings. The article also discusses fashion, which is taken into consideration when designing temperature-controlling clothing.
