- Abstract
Quality of life (QoL) is conceptualized as a complex and ever-evolving concept, involving an individual's perception within society in relation to goals, expectations, cultural context, norms, and concerns. The pregnancy period represents a crucial stage filled with tensions that has the potential to influence the quality of life for women. There is a growing trend in Spain of single-parent families. The objective of this research focuses on analyzing the differences in quality of life between single/widowed women and married/cohabiting women. Results: The presence of 291 women (81.1%) married or cohabiting with their partners was recorded, while 68 participants (18.9%) stated they were single or widowed. The participants' mean age was 33.53 years (SD 4.80), ranging from 20 to 48 years. No statistically significant differences in quality of life were observed between the two groups. Conclusions: The marital status of the pregnant woman may not be a determining factor in the quality of life during the first trimester of pregnancy.
