The article discusses the U.S. Peace Corps volunteer organization, focusing on organizational recruitment rhetoric that both contrasts with and reaffirms U.S. foreign policy seeking to educate developing nations about U.S. culture while respecting the cultures with which it is engaged. Topics include the former U.S. president John F. Kennedy, the history of the Peace Corps, globalization, universalism, and the resistance of Peace Corps volunteers to some visual rhetoric from the organization.
