- Abstract
Si3N4 based antistatic ceramic balls are successfully prepared with TiN as conductive additive phase. The effects of TiN on densification, microstructure, mechanical properties and resistivity of the balls are studied. The results show that the addition of a large amount of TIN impedes the densification of Si3N4, reduces the bending strength, Vickers hardness and resistivity of Si3N4, based ceramics, and improves the fracture toughness; compared with samples added with microscale TiN, the samples with same content of nanoscale TiN exhibit better performances; the balls with 30% (mass fraction) of nanoscale TiN not only have antistatic function, but also have optimal comprehensive mechanical properties. The Vickers hardness, fracture toughness and crushing strength are (1482±15) HV10 ,(8.2 ±0.1)MPa•m1/2 and (417±10) MPa, respectively.
