The authors comment on the need for performing opportunistic bilateral salpingectomy (OBS) for the prevention of ovarian cancer. Topics discussed include role of the tube in etiopathogenesis of ovarian cancer, performing salpingectomy at tubal sterilisation, and failure of OBS in preventing cancers arising outside the tube.
