- Abstract
The article discusses the challenges faced by William Faulkner in writing his novel, The Sound and the Fury. Faulkner's previous novels had not gained much popularity, and he had become disillusioned with the publishing process. However, he found inspiration in creating the character of Caddy Compson, whose story forms the heart of the novel. The Sound and the Fury, told from the perspectives of Caddy's three brothers, received critical acclaim and contributed to Faulkner winning the Nobel Prize for Literature. The author of the article reflects on how reading the novel influenced their academic career and emphasizes the importance of perseverance in the face of challenges.
