- Abstract
The article focuses on the role of the gender of the murder victim in death sentences. Topics discussed include female murders resulting in harsher punishments such as capital punishments, the role of race in murder punishments, increased likelihood of capital punishment in crimes involving sexual assault and homicide, decreased likelihood of capital punishment due to reckless behavior by the victim and the role of victim vulnerability such as pregnancy in the determination of punishment.
