Rise in community nurse numbers.
- Abstract
The article presents a report commissioned by the Department of Health (DH) in England, which examines the number of nurses working in the community and secondary care. According to the report, the total of nurses working in the community between 1996 and 2006 have exceeded the numbers of nurses in the secondary care. An analysis of the report revealed that nurses engaging in general practitioner (GP) practices rose by 48% to 14,616, while community nurse grew by 39% to 47,338.
