- Abstract
The article discusses the roles that law and public policy play in generating, perpetuating, and responding to racial and ethnic health disparities before and after the enactment of the U.S. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010. America's federal laws are addressed, along with Indian health care and the U.S. Constitution's Equal Protection and Substantive Due Process Clauses. U.S. civil rights laws and the nation's U.S. Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act are examined.
