- Abstract
Unsynchronized ultrasound localization systems enable decentralized destination of devices and are independent of control wires or signals. Therefore, the transmitted signal requires additional information about the sender. Hence, the displacement of multiple objects can be measured in two dimensions with a low cost system. The data is modulated in orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) on the ultrasound signal to reduce disturbances by echoes. Using two carrier frequencies for distance measurement, the system achieves a standard deviation of 0.4 mm. Moreover, the communication works to a range of 18m with a transmission rate of 5.7 kBaud.
