- Abstract
The article discusses the functions of civilian organizations in the management of correctional facilities in New York City. It mentions the Correctional Association of New York and the New York City Board of Correction. It states that the Correctional Association has the statutory access to the state prisons. It says that the Board of Correction can conduct inspections and visitations to correctional institutions and facilities under the jurisdiction of New York City's Department of Corrections. It adds that civilian monitors can provide benefits to both the prisons and the administrators.
