- Abstract
The article focuses on a conceptual meta-paradigm for heuristic and systematic efforts in health behavior and health promotion work. A meta-paradigm is an analogical representation of a set of phenomenon. All paradigms of human behavior have as their foundation a number of postulates without which the paradigm would only be an analytic exercise devoid of substance. The first postulate is that all contemporary theories of human behavior explicitly or implicitly accept the principle of multiple determinants of behavior. The second postulate is that all human behavior is a product of reciprocal interaction between behavior and both situational events and personal factors.
