- Title
Should we have to include transcutaneous neuromodulation in the therapeutic GERD armamentarium?
- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the potential benefits of transcutaneous neuromodulation (TN) in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) patients with impaired esophageal motility (IEM). The authors suggest that TN treatment may improve esophageal motility by regulating autonomic nervous function. They also mention that factors involved in reflux occurrence in GERD patients during transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxations (TLESRs) are different from those in healthy subjects. The article concludes by suggesting that alternative therapeutic strategies, such as TN, could potentially reduce the need for prolonged proton pump inhibitor (PPI) courses.
