- Title
More: The 10,000 Year Rise of the World Economy.
- Abstract
The chapters on different themes include the evolution of modes of transport, the development of money and banking, technology and innovation, and the growth in the scale and scope of government intervention in market economies. Philip Coggan has a distinguished career as a writer for I The Economist i and previously for the I Financial Times i . As the author illustrates throughout, government intervention of one sort or another has been omnipresent in the process of development, sometimes for good and sometimes for ill, and he leaves us with the assertion that, for future prosperity, it will be all the more important to get the balance right.
