- Title
The Kurds of Turkey: National, Religious, and Economic Identities.
- Authors
Christofis, Nikos
- Abstract
As mentioned, this book adopts a distinctly "national" focus on the Kurdish question, thus drawing out the important - but seldom closely examined - national, religious, and class dynamics of Kurdish society in Turkey. In these, the author details the evolving cooperation among the blocs and asks whether "the Kurdish blocs can found a political region in the historically existing Kurdish cultural region in Turkey" (p. 13). In all, Çiçek not only succeeds in his goal of analysing a particular set of political dynamics in time and space but also provides a well-written, meticulous, and sophisticated general study on the Kurds in Turkey that will appeal to many different audiences.
