- Abstract
Sâyilî is originally from Karş, which is a town in Khorasan district in Turkestan. He first came to Anatolia and then to İstanbul in his youth. He tried to appreciate Yavuz Sultan Selim and Kanunî Sultan Süleyman, comprehending their periods in which they ruled. He has got four Persian works. Poetic Târîh-i Âl-i Osmanî and Dîvân are the most prominent ones of these four works. Seventeen Turkish poems in his Dîvân have not been noticed until today as his Dîvân is written in Persian language. That's why they have never been assessed in Turkish Literature. In fact his poems are striking as they reflect the adaptation of plain and colloquial language of XVI. century to his poems. He maintained Necatî genre in our classical poems by using idioms, innuendos and euphemism successfully. All of his poems are lyrical. He is one of the most prominent Eastern scope poets of the century, who have comprehended the importance of Ottoman scope and transition to Turkish from Persian.
