- Abstract
The author discusses the effectiveness of joint replacement (TJR) surgery in relieving advanced knee and hip arthritis pain. It is informed that there is a need in the U.S. for monitoring infrastructure of population-based, longitudinal outcomes to provide evidence to inform patient decisions about optimal TJR timing, implant selection and surgical techniques. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality research program has funded for function and outcomes research for effectiveness in TJR.
