- Abstract
The article offers a look at the character of Godfrey St. Peter in the novel "The Professor's House," by Willa Cather. According to the author, the experiences of St. Peter as he retires to the attic and garden are meant to portray his depression and consequently the depression of Cather herself. Comments by Cather regarding the setting and characters in the book are presented. The author argues that Cather personifies the house giving it human-like qualities. The character of Christian is analyzed.
