The author discusses positive development of ethnic and racial minority children in the U.S. She is critical of the need for a theoritical and conceptual framework to study the socioeconomic status of minority children, who are living in different familial, community, and societal conditions. Also mentioned is the study framework proposed by Center for Early Childhood Research and Dual Language Learners researchers for dual language students in the U.S.
