- Title
November-December 2006: "Let's Dance "
- Authors
Schneider, Jr., Richard
- Abstract
The article discusses stereotypes and truisms regarding gay men and dance. The author argues that the commonly-held assumption that all male dancers are gay is based on the historical truism that dance, particularly ballet, is a feminine art form. Women have played the predominant role in developing the art of dance, and men have commonly played the supporting roles in dance performances. Despite the efforts of some to present dance as masculine, the vast majority of male dancers are, in fact, gay.
