- Abstract
This article seeks to explain the way in which the parties that formed the VI Portuguese Provisional Government – the Portuguese Communist Party, the Socialist Party and the Popular Democratic Party – positioned themselves politically regarding the recognition of the Angolan Government by the Portuguese state in February 1976. Based on the minutes of the Revolutionary Council and on the periodical press of the time during the period in which the Angolan issue was discussed within the Portuguese state, the Socialist Party and Popular Democratic Party influenced the decision to legitimize the Angolan Government.
