- Abstract
In this article the author discusses the work of Jamaican artist Ebony G. Patterson. The author notes that she became interested in Patterson's work when she was researching work on dancehall music and Jamaican masculinity for a course she taught at the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica. The artist believes that Patterson has an unusual gift that captures the realities of Jamaican life. The article notes that Patterson's work shows that she has an intuitive understanding of modern discussions about males that is shown in her portrayal of gangstas and participants in dancehall music.
