BROOKS, HOPE
- Abstract
In this article the author recalls her memories of Jamaican artist and sculptor Christopher Gonzalez. She first met him while he was still a student at the Jamaica School of Art. Gonzalez was such an outstanding student and had such a good clay modelling technique that his instructor, Bill Broome, would send beginning students to watch him work. After completing advanced education and training in California, Gonzalez returned to Jamaica to work as a teacher at the Jamaica School of Art. The article mentions some of the noted students who trained under him and describes some of the awards he received for his sculptures.
