- Abstract
The article discusses the materiality of the urban settings of the city of Los Angeles, California in the fiction writings of author James Ellroy. Topics include an analysis of several works authored by Ellroy including his book "The Black Dahlia" and his short story “Jungletown Jihad" which show the dialectical tension between subject and fable, and the material world portrayed in the detective fiction of Ellroy and the relevance of space and signification in them.
