Dens invaginatus is a dental abnormality of unknown etiology with a prevalence of 1.3% to 9.6%, with the maxillary lateral incisors most commonly affected. It therefore represents a dental abnormality of important clinical relevance and, if left undetected, frequently results in pulp necrosis. Early diagnosis during orthodontic treatment may prevent the need for endodontic or even surgical treatment.
