- Authors
Dorans, Kirsten
- Abstract
The article reports on the $630 million donation of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Rotary International, along with the government of Great Britain and Germany, to support the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. It discusses how the initiative reduced the cases of polio and its failure in meeting the 2000 target date for worldwide eradication. According to World Health Organization (WHO) spokesperson Oliver Rosenbauer, the goal will be achieved if there is political support and funding.
