- Abstract
The article examines the inclusion of biotechnology and computer software as patentable subject matters in the U.S. According the author, the Congress and the Supreme Court have not imposed any restrictions regarding the subject matter expansion made by the Patent and Trademark Office and Federal Circuit. The Supreme Court case "Laboratory Corp. of America Holdings v. Metabolite Laboratories Inc." was taken into account.
