- Authors
McElgunn, Peggy
- Abstract
The article discusses the Teaching-Family Model, developed in the 1970s by behavioral scientists at the University of Kansas, which was intended to be used to treat problem youth. Relationship building with caregivers, positive encouragement, and token economics are part of the model, and the article discusses the effect of trust, family-style living environments, and youth workers' training on children's behavior. Worker evaluation and consultation are mentioned, as well as the individualization of the model for each child.
