- Title
The 'ABCs' Of B, Or: To Be And Not To Be B.
- Authors
Cholodenko, Alan
- Abstract
The article discusses low-budget motion pictures, or B movies, in relation to theories put forth by French philosopher Jacques Derrida and French sociologist Jean Baudrillard. Utilizing Derrida's theory on deconstruction, the author states B movies are inherently impossible to define, as their subject matter is too all-encompassing. He states that all movies in some way take part in animation, and addresses Baudrillard's notions of hyperreality in relation to B movies. He engages with the sociologist's notion that all film is inherently evil.
