In Response to The RVU Compensation Model and Head and Neck Surgical Education.
- Authors
Chow, Michael S.; Givi, Babak
- Abstract
This document is a response to a previous article and addresses several counterpoints. The authors clarify that their study was not intended to show revenue loss or production, but rather to quantify the time cost of surgical training. They caution against advocating staggered surgery as a solution to the time cost of training, citing risks and revised guidelines from professional organizations. The authors also emphasize the importance of residents in patient care but note that their primary objective is education. They appreciate the interest and response to their study and highlight the effort involved in training future surgeons.
