Research links ratios to better outcomes.
- Abstract
The article presents the results of various international researches on the relationship between higher levels of nurse staffing and hospital-related mortality, among others, as of March 2013. In the studies by RL Kane and colleagues, an increase by one full-time registered nurse (RN) per patient per day resulted in five lives saved per 1,000 medical patients. The opinion of New South Wales Nurses & Midwives' Association's (NSWNMA) Brett Holmes on the developments is also cited.
