- Title
Introduction: Revisioning the Curriculum.
- Authors
Mandziuk, Roseann M.
- Abstract
This article introduces the Fall 1992 issue of "Women's Studies in Communication," which deals with the calls for multiculturalism and diversity in the contemporary academy. The essays by Sonja K. Foss, Karen A. Foss, and Josina M. Makau describe their efforts to revision three such entrenched areas in our field: the public speaking, public address, and argumentation courses. Their essays are motivated by the challenges posed to the Communication discipline by feminist scholarship, yet the revised courses they describe include issues of gender as well as the recognition of Afrocentric and other alternative perspectives. These authors submitted the essays together, and they were reviewed for publication in the journal as a set. These papers originated as a program at the 1991 annual meeting of the Speech Communication Association in Atlanta, Georgia.
