- Abstract
This article presents an in-depth discussion of the political career of the Yugoslavian head of state Slobodan Milošević. An overview is given of his rise to political power, removal from office and trials for crimes against humanity, and death in 2006. Particular attention is given regarding Milošević's "theatricality" in the public sphere, focusing on his testimonies during his trials for ethnic cleansing and analyzing the many performative layers of the proceedings themselves.
