- Title
The Monk's Paradise in The Land of Cokaygne and the Navigatio Sancti Brendani.
- Authors
Yoder, Emily K.
- Abstract
The article examines the poem "The Land of Cokaygne." It notes that the poem is categorized in a genre of Irish and Celtic literature that translates to "voyages," and suggests that the poem is a parody of the Latin prose narrative "Navigatio Sancti Brendani" which tells the story of Saint Brendan's travels. The author examines linguistic evidence supporting the poem's Irish background, as well as the language used to described the "promised land" featured as the subject.
