- Title
Teachers' Tendencies to Promote Student-Led Science Projects: Associations with Their Views About Science.
- Authors
Bencze, J. Lawrence; Bowen, G. Michael; Alsop, Steve
- Abstract
The article presents a study of teacher's perceptions about science and their relationship to the types of learning activities in which they engage students. The authors developed and use instrumental case studies of five high school science teachers, repertory grids, samples of lesson plans and student activities, and semistructured interviews. They describe that based on constructivist grounded theory analysis, participating teachers' tendencies to promote student-directed, open-ended scientific inquiry projects seemed to relate with their perceptions about the nature of science to which they adhere.
