- Abstract
The experiment was to study the in vitro nutrient degradation rate of commonly used roughage materials for Cashmere goat through a three-step method (rumen fluid method-pepsin-trypsin). A single factor fully randomized experimental design was used to compare in vitro degradation rates of nutrients in six types of roughage (corn straw, cereal grass, alfalfa, corn silage, oat grass and Leymus chinensis). The raw materials of roughage were dried at 65 ℃ and crushed before passing through 40 mesh sieve. They were cultured in vitro in simulated rumen environment for 48 h, digested in simulated stomach environment for 1 h, digested in small intestine environment for 24 h. The DM, OM, CP, EE, NDF, ADF, HCL, Ash and GE of roughage were determined, each treatment has six replicates. The results showed that the in vitro degradation rates of DM, OM, CP and EE in rumen-stomach small-intestine of alfalfa and corn silage were 96%, 94%, 97% and 88%, respectively. DE was higher than 16 MJ/kg, and the degradation rates of NDF, ADF and HCL in the rumen were higher. The degradation contribution rates of DM, OM, CP and EE from alfalfa and corn silage in rumen of Cashmere goats in vitro were mostly over 70%, while corn straw was the lowest, below 65%. The contribution rate of OM and EE degradation of cereal grass was less than 60%. The study indicates that the nutritional value of alfalfa and corn silage is higher than that of cereal grass, oat grass, and Leymus chinensis, while corn straw is the lowest.
