Abstract
The article reports that aluminum has surpassed iron to become the second most widely used automotive material in the world in 2006. The aluminum content of passenger vehicles in North America and Europe has increased. The factors which contributed to this growth are indicated. Moreover, the article includes an outlook for the use of aluminum in the industry.
