- Title
ASHRAE to Fund Research On Operating Room Air Distribution.
- Abstract
The article reports that the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) chose to fund research in 2007 that examined air distribution in hospital operating rooms. A society-funded paper on the subject is expected to lead to a decrease in the incidence of airborne infections that threaten the lives of individuals undergoing surgery. The article notes that ASHRAE is also seeking to fund research on a variety of subjects including new standards for air filters, kitchen ventilation systems and the impact of high altitude on gas fired boilers and hot water heaters.
