- Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in the skin of psoriatic patients and its relationship with psoriasis. Methods: The niRNA expression level of STAT3 in lesional and non-lesional skin of 13 psoriatic patients were evaluated using real-time quantitative PCR technique while the expressions of two kinds of phosphorylated STAT3 were detected by immunohistoehemistry. Results: Compared with non-lesional psonatic skin, the mRNA expression level of STAT3 was significantly lngher in the lesional psoriatic skin (P=0.0001). ImmunoliLStochemistry showed stronger expression of both two kmds of phosphorylated STAT3 in nucleus of keratinocytes in lesional skin relative to non-lesional psoriatic skin and showed high expression in dermal microvascular endothelial cells and surrounding lymphocytes. Conclusion: The mRNA expression of STAT3 and the expression of phosphorylated STAT3 were significantly lngher in the lesional psoriatic skin than non-lesional psonatic skin, miplying that STAT3 might be mvolved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
